If the Electoral College had stopped Trump from winning then I might have gritted my teeth and accepted an “ends justify the means” argument. Far from preventing it, though, the system actually made Trump the winner despite the fact that he lost the popular vote.

That system, and our first-past-the-post voting system, have been antiquated for a long time. Now they’ve allowed a hateful fascist demagogue to win an election. (I’d say “fair and square” but for the rampant voter suppression that the Trump campaign and the RNC have been carrying out.)

Bottom line, our electoral system is undemocratic—in principle and in practice—and it needs to be reformed.
